Peer Mentor
Program

About the Program

The Peer Mentor Program is designed to assist first-year engineering students at UNB by introducing them to the various resources available on campus and the range of events organized by the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS) and other related sub-societies. This program also offers a valuable platform for new students to connect with upper-year peers, allowing them to inquire about experiences and gain insights into common challenges and best practices to navigate their first year effectively.

About the Team

Jaswin Krishnamoorthy

My name is Jaswin Krishnamoorthy, and I am currently in my final year of pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. For the upcoming academic year, I will serve as one of the Peer Mentor Leads, where I will oversee the operations of the Peer Mentor Program and making sure we can guide the new students through their first year at UNB seamlessly. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing sports such as cricket and tennis, as well as volunteering at my local temple. Should you have any questions about first-year courses or activities, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Ila Gurney

Hi! My name is Ila Gurney, and I'm currently in my third year of Electrical Engineering. This year I will be one of the peer mentors available to answer any questions first years may have about starting at UNB. Outside of academics, I have many hobbies including reading classics and sci-fi novels (I'm always willing to talk about books and movies), sewing clothing and quilts, running in road races, testing out my 3D printer, and hiking. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help.

Cadence Nelson

Hey! My name is Cadence Nelson and I’m currently in my third year of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering! I have previously worked with the EUS in my second year as a Wellness Director, which makes me super excited to be able to continue helping the student body through the Peer Mentor Program. Outside of school, I am a part of the Reds Women’s Rugby team, where I am also executive treasurer. I also volunteer at the UNB Rock and Ice club. If you have any questions about anything academic or non-academic related, pop in during the mentor hours or reach out through email! I’m always happy to help!

Somtochukwu Nwachukwu

I am currently in my third year pursuing a degree in Software Engineering. This year, I will be serving as an Engineering Peer Mentor, supporting first-year students as they adjust to university life and navigate their courses. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, and video games, listening to music, as well as spending time with friends and exploring new tech projects. If you have any questions about first-year courses or getting involved on campus, feel free to reach out!

Sara, Bueno Webster

Hi! My name is Sara Bueno Webster. I am thrilled to provide my services as a fourth year Chemical Engineering student! I am happy to provide support to any and all engineering students in my role as a peer mentor. Outside of academics, I play rugby for UNB, enjoy reading and writing, and love astronomy. If you'd like to reach out for anything, feel free to ask!
